Orangutan Sanctuary (6 photos)

Palm-oil plantations have replaced over 90 percent of Borneo’s ancient forests. This has displaced our closest relative, the orangutan, which is close to extinction. Here, baby orangutans from the Nyaru Menteng orangutan sanctuary in central Kalimantan, Borneo, trek back to the nursery in wheelbarrows accompanied by their babysitters, after a day learning how to survive in the forest without their real mothers.
“For the Innocent” by Annie Marie Musselman is included in the PDN Photo Annual 2010 online gallery

Annie’s work is certainly among the best orangutan photography I’ve ever seen….
You can learn more about orangutans on the Orangutan Outreach website: http://redapes.org
They are critically endangered and need your support! Adopt an orangutan today! {:(|}
