A Night On the Streets
Photo by Jeff Riedel. Nancy Quinn, midnight, the Bronx. Riedel photographed six homeless people on the streets of New York City one night in February 2008 for New York Magazine. Riedel worked with photography director Jody Quon, photo editor Alex Pollack and design director Chris Dixon.
Riedel won the 2009 ASMP Arnold Newman Prize, which recognizes the work of a contemporary environmental portrait photographer, and is part of the PDN Photo Annual competition. Riedel receives a $2,500 cash prize and a Canon digital camera. Barbara Bordnick, Eugene Mopsik and select PDN staff members were the judges for this award.
